The IELTS Reading test assesses a wide array of reading skills, including skimming, detail comprehension, understanding the main idea, and evaluating the writer's arguments, opinions, attitudes, and purpose.
This section features three reading passages that include various types of questions, spanning descriptive, factual, discursive, and analytical content. The passages are relevant and engaging, addressing topics of general interest, with at least one containing a detailed logical argument.
Note: The reading materials may also include non-verbal elements like graphs, diagrams, or illustrations.
This section consists of three passages based on everyday scenarios in an English-speaking context, with a mix of short and long texts: 2-3 short texts in the first passage, two texts in the second, and one longer text in the third.
• Reading Passage 1: Texts related to social survival, including advertisements, notices, and schedules.
• Reading Passage 2: Texts concerning workplace survival, such as contracts, job descriptions, and training materials.
• Reading Passage 3: Texts involving extended prose with a more complex structure.

• Marks: Each question carries one (1) mark.
